Amazing food and very filling! So far, I've tried the following: - Garlic naan - soft, carb-y satisfying, and flavorful - Samosa - satiating and tasty - Bombay Palak Chat and Dahi Puri appetizers - very unique to me and great novel experiences. - Lamb Rogan Josh - amazing!! I'm not an Indian food connoisseur or even a lamb fan (lamb is usually a hit-or-miss for me), but I thought that lamb dish was truly excellent. It wasn't tough or tasteless, like other lamb dishes I've had in the past - Butter chicken - amazing and delicious. It also tasted slightly sweeter than from other places (maybe a bit honey there?) - Vada pav appetizer (potato "burgers") - great and quite filling for an appetizer. Has a nice spicy kick enough to make you sweat a bit. - Kheer rice pudding dessert - delicious! The balls were very tender and satisfyingly heavy but also well-balanced with a light, sweet syrup. Usually, that rice pudding is a bit too sweet (namely, "sugary") for me, but it didn't taste like that at this restaurant. - One time, a friend and I split the "Dinner for 2" which came with LOTS of different sampler dishes. Definitely worth getting if you want to taste a lot of different things on the menu! All the dishes were great, but the meat ones were definitely the best, and the veggie dishes just kinda paled in comparison. The meat samplers (including chicken, goat, and lamb) were all so tender and perfectly cooked, and the sauces were flavorful and rich. One of the sampler dishes was the Gulab Jamun dessert (dry milk flour balls dip in cinnamon sugar syrup), which didn't really stand out to me, and it was also reallyyyy sweet.

Stopped by with a coworker for lunch. The place was pretty empty when we walked in but they had a good group when we were leaving. Service was good and attentive, my water cup never got less than half full. The food was pretty good! I love the garlic nan! I got the butter chicken (delicious) and my coworker had the spicy Lal mirch which he said was really good! Great flavor, great portions and the prices were reasonable! Definitely will be back!

Went to the Columbia Heights outpost, last night. Every time I go, I'm reminded that I don't go to Bombay Street Food enough.

I cannot recommend any restaurant more strongly or effusively than Bombay Street Food. Tucked on the side of a building on a narrow, bustling corner of Park Rd and 14th NW, the entrance is humble and innocuous and does not telegraph what you're about to find inside. If you love Indian food you'll know immediately when you come in the door that you're about to have some good Indian food as the pungent aromas from the kitchen hit you. But you'll be wrong...it's way better than you think. It's not a huge restaurant, but it is nicely decorated, feels warm and inviting and the seating is comfortable. You will likely notice Anthony Bordain's face on the wall...I'm sure my review pales in comparison to his so I'll gladly inflate mine by pointing to his substantial thumbs up. My wife and I have been coming here (and Door Dashing from here) since it opened We are so glad (relieved) that it survived the pandemic and glad that our many orders played some role in making that so. OK ALREADY! THE FOOD! You just can't go wrong here. Throw a dart at the menu and whatever it hits will be best in class or surprise you in some way. All of their dishes are cooked with the highest quality, fresh ingredients --that's a through-going feature that elevates all their food. Appetizers: perfectly cooked Samosas with the slightly dense slightly crisp breading filled with nicely spiced potatoes and peas. The Bhel Puri is an unusual puffed rice dish I think many Americans have not tried. Dahl Puri and Raggda Patties are incredible ...but again so is everything else I don't mention here. The obvious: Butter Chicken. This place is dedicated to Butter Chicken and they make I perfect every time. It's the classic taste you know if you love it elsewhere but fresher and...I don't know...something subtly more amazing. A friend turned us on to their Malai Kofta which is just so unbelievably good that we can't not get this no matter what else we do order. I would happily die drowning in a vat of the Malai Kofta creamy gravy. The Aloo Gobi, Chana Masala, and Saag Panir are all veggie favorites to go to here. So delicious and fresh. If you have a spicier palate, the Vindaloo with your choice of protein will not disappoint you. Dammit....I'm looking at the menu and seeing way too many others I want to comment on...the Biryanis, the Tikka Masalas, the Kabobs plus the cool IndoChinese additions like Chicken Manchurian (similar to General Tso but lighter, crisper and pungent). There is nothing better than their fresh, warm soft, doughy Naan! I prefer plain naan but garlic naan is also wonderful. I could just sit and eat naan happily for my meal. Plus they are generous with their rice which is always perfectly light, fluffy and yet still moist and chewy. Do not miss the chance to get some mouthfuls of rice with the sauce from your butter chicken or malai kofta...again, a satisfying meal to itself. Finally, the staff here. Always warm, friendly, attentive, gracious. Come here often if you can, you will become family with these wonderful people. I wish this restaurant and all of its staff the very best and great thanks for the many many great meals they have served to us. Ok. /endGushingReview Go there. NOW!!
